Hydronic expansion tanks are diaphragm type tanks designed to keep system pressures below relief valve settings. Hydronic expansion tanks absorb the expansion of water in residential or commercial hydronic (forced hot water) heating and cooling systems. Without hydronic expansion tanks, the system will quickly over-pressurize resulting in added stress to the various system components. What is Thermal Expansion?
When heated, water expands. Under normal circumstances, a 40 Gallons hot water heater creates roughly an additional half gallon of water when heated (with no demand). In the past this expanded water would flow back into the public water supply. However, in many countries, where applicable by code, a backflow preventer is required, creating a closed system and a new problem as this extra half gallon of water is not compressible. When an expansion tank is installed the excess water enters the pre-pressurized tank. As the temperature and pressure reaches its maximum, the diaphragm flexes against an air cushion (air is compressible) to allow for increased water expansion. When the system is opened again or the water cools, the water leaves the tank and returns to the system.

- Install on the cold water side after the pressure reducing valve and between the backflow preventer and the water heater

- The tank can be installed either vertically or horizontally. However, if the tank is to be installed horizontally, then it must be fully supported independent from the piping. Failure to do so will void the warranty.

:MOST IMPORTANT:
1. Circuit breaker should be larger than 32 amps, and pay attention to your electric wire should be 8, 9, or 10AWG. IF YOU CAN’T GET THE CORRESPONDING ACCESSORIES and ADAPTERS, PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS WATER HEATER.
2. The water heater is installed vertically, and the inlet pipe is installed below, and the outlet water pipe shoud be installed on above, otherwise the water heater will not show the water temperature
3. The water heater connector are both G1/2(brass), Not suggest to use tape on connector, if you use tape at the interface of the outlet pipe, the water will slowly infiltrate into the water heater, the amount of seepage is very little and not easy to find. As time goes by, the water which infiltrate in water heater turns into steam, with the steam increases, the circuit is shorted and the water heater may burn out.
4. The problem of water not hot: the body temperature is generally 37 ° C (98.6 ° F), the temperature within 6 ° C changes, you feel the basic feeling of warm water, so the water temperature is 42 ° C (107.6 ° F), you may still feel just warm, not hot. As shown in picture 3, unless the inlet water temperature is high and the speed is low, the water temperature will be high, so generally you will only feel the water is warm, IF YOU NEED HOT WATER, NOT SUGGEST YOU TO BUY THIS..
